Responsibilities

Position Overview

This is an opportunity to develop and hone skills in content production, working with a collaborative, supportive, growth-oriented team who strives every day for creativity and excellence.

As a content developer and member of the Content Development team, you will be responsible for creating learner-centric programs covering systems training and modern professional skills. You will work closely with our Learning & Development and Operations teams to build out a topic from beginning to end, including outlining, writing, pre-production, production, and quality control of your programs.

The ideal candidate will be able to quickly and reliably use defined learner and business needs to identify learning objectives and performance tasks, and produce top quality video, text, and web-based training and assessments that are accurate, engaging, and in line with the HomeServe brand. You will also have opportunities to influence other parts of the business, including strengthening the L&D team’s connection to our internal customers and helping to build a culture of learning within HomeServe.

This position reports to HomeServe’s Supervisor of Curriculum Design and Knowledge Management.

Essential Functions

  • Work independently to research and interview subject matter experts to obtain key insights into development topics.
  • Identify learning objectives and content outline for lessons.
  • Write lesson copy, document processes, and build lessons.
  • Work with the Content Development team to develop all visual assets and videos to support your lessons.
  • Support efforts to gain and implement feedback from internal customers.
  • Effectively communicate project status to management and key contributors, while proactively escalating challenges to management for resolution.

Qualifications

Professional Requirements

  • 1-2+ years of professional experience as a learning experience designer, writer, content producer, or consultant.
  • Excellent written communication, with the ability to present complex ideas in a clear, concise, and playful fashion—technical writing.
  • Great intuition for how people learn.

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts, Education, Journalism, or equivalent curriculum.
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory, learning experience design principles, assessments, and evaluation practices.
  • Proficiency using Adobe Creative Suite, Articulate Storyline, and learning management systems.
