The Director of Architecture is a hands on leadership role overseeing the team responsible for strategic technology and architectural planning, encompassing all areas of the business.
Responsible for designing integrated software solution strategies aimed at modernizing, consolidating and coordinating the independently designed applications within and across the operations and enterprise space. Determines how existing applications and legacy systems work together to meet the new and emerging enterprise requirements.
Provides overall leadership for the team to balance work load and team strengths to balance people development and overall project efficiency while being the primary interface with the PMO to help guide project prioritization and scheduling.
Responsible to Chair and guide the Architectural review board to drive the teams to deliver comprehensive and complete solutions in support of the business needs.
The role is required to support multiple concurrent projects with architecture oversight and policy framework for application development, system integration, enterprise toolset, research and development of technologies, alternative solutions and toolsets.
Understand the company’s long-term business strategies and goals, and apply that knowledge to anticipate future business needs that technology can impact, and devise strategies to find appropriate alternative technical solutions, which may not have been applied previously.
Direct Reports (Details):
This role will have direct reports as well as requiring the ability to address managing resources within a matrix organization and working with the Architecture teams within the different countries and the PLC. This role will be responsible for overall architecture and strategy across the function.
3 to 5 years experience leading an Architecture team.
Make recommendations to senior management concerning long-range policies for information technology systems, including overall strategy, implementation and operation.
Responsible for creating and maintaining the documentation for a holistic view of the enterprise ecosystem, technology stack and data flow.
Provide comprehensive consultation to business, IT management and staff at the highest technical level on architecture, integration, best practices and industry standards and direction.
Effectively collaborate with various disciplines within IT (e.g., Application Development, Database, Infrastructure, PMO, Security for architecture and design) and the business teams (e.g. Call Center, Digital, Marketing and Operations for business process impacts and reengineering) to drive & lead projects through successful delivery within the business constraints.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline; Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum of eight, preferably ten or more years’ experience in systems architecture and integration, program development (or an equivalent combination of education and work experience).
Needs a proven history of successful Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) implementations.
Requires excellent communication, leadership and analytical skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with all levels of management and with clients.
Expertise in Service-Oriented Architecture, Web Services, Database technologies, Integration strategies and enterprise best practices.
Experience with providing technology direction and architectural guidance for enterprise-wide solutions. Technical management for a global organization is preferred.
Solid understanding of SDLC, change control & problem management processes.
Strong team building skills and ability to gain cooperation and to motivate others.
